Creating a Roster

A roster is a chain of flights flown back to back. You build the whole thing up front, generate a SimBrief OFP for each flight as you go, then re-open flight 1 in SimBrief right before you fly so your aircraft and GSX pull the correct flight plan.

Before you start

Open Settings and check two things:

• SimBrief username — under the SimBrief tile. Without it the app can't pull your OFPs, and the dispatch card will show a "SimBrief username required" warning instead of the buttons.
• Turnaround difficulty — this sets the minimum gap the app inserts between flights when you add a new one.

1. Start a new roster

On the Roster screen click New Roster. It reads Create New Roster if you don't have a roster active yet.

Fill in the header panel, top left:

• Roster Name — e.g. Friday Atlantic Rotation
• Aircraft Type — start typing and pick from the SimBrief list, e.g. B738

Leave Advanced Roster Creation off unless you need per-flight aircraft, ATC callsigns, cost index, alternates, or aircraft changeovers mid-roster.

2. Add your flights

Use + Add Flight in the leg list to add as many flights as you want. There's no limit — add the whole day's rotation if you like.

For each flight, select it in the list and fill in the editor panel on the right:

• DEP ICAO / ARR ICAO — departure auto-fills from the previous flight's arrival. You can also click an airport on the map and use Set as Departure or Set as Arrival.
• Airline / Flight Number — e.g. BAW / 123
• OBT (Off Blocks Time) — UTC. The first flight sets the tone; later flights are auto-spaced by your turnaround tier.
• Taxi Out / Taxi In — in minutes. Used to work out STD and STA either side of the SimBrief air time.

Watch out: changing DEP or ARR ICAO on a flight wipes that flight's imported SimBrief data and resets its dispatch card to step 1. If you re-route a flight, you have to regenerate and re-pull its OFP.

3. Generate the OFP for each flight as you build it

Do this per flight, before moving on to the next one. The SimBrief Dispatch card at the bottom of the editor tracks four steps: Route, Dispatch, Pull OFP, Ready.

1. With the route and OBT filled in, click Send to SimBrief. Your browser opens the SimBrief dispatch page, pre-filled with the route, airline, flight number, aircraft and departure time.
2. On SimBrief, adjust anything you want, then click Generate OFP.
3. Come back to the app and click Pull from SimBrief.

The card turns green — "OFP imported" — and the Computed Times block appears with your SOBT, STD, STA and SIBT plus the air time. That flight is ready.

Repeat for every flight in the roster. A flight can't be saved as complete without an imported OFP, so don't skip any.

If SimBrief changes something after you've pulled, hit Re-pull on the green card.

4. Review and save

Click Review & Save, bottom right. It stays greyed out until every flight is valid.

The review panel lists each flight with its route, off-blocks and in-blocks times, and an Open in SB link back to that flight's saved SimBrief plan. Check the chain reads correctly, then click Save Roster.

The roster becomes your active roster and the app jumps to the Roster screen.

5. Re-generate flight 1 before you fly

This is the step people miss.

SimBrief only ever serves the most recently generated OFP to outside tools. Because you generated flights 2, 3 and 4 after flight 1, SimBrief's "latest" is currently the last flight of your roster — not the one you're about to fly.

So, on the Roster screen:

1. Find Flight 1 and click Open in SimBrief.
2. On the SimBrief page that opens, click Generate OFP again.

Flight 1 is now the latest plan on your SimBrief account, and anything that pulls from SimBrief — your aircraft's EFB or FMS import, GSX Fetch Latest, Navigraph — will load the right flight.

Nothing changes inside the app. You're just re-stamping the plan as the newest one on SimBrief's side.

6. At every turnaround

After each flight closes and the roster advances, repeat the same two clicks for the next flight:

1. Open in SimBrief on that flight's card in the app.
2. Generate OFP on the SimBrief page.

Then use Fetch Latest in the aircraft and in GSX to load it. Do this at the gate during each turnaround, before you start loading fuel and passengers.

Quick reference

Create New Roster
  - name + aircraft
  - + Add Flight
       route, flight number, OBT, taxi times
       Send to SimBrief -> Generate OFP -> Pull from SimBrief
     repeat for every flight
  - Review & Save -> Save Roster

Before pushback on flight 1:
  Open in SimBrief (flight 1) -> Generate OFP

At each turnaround:
  Open in SimBrief (next flight) -> Generate OFP -> Fetch Latest in aircraft + GSX

If something goes wrong

• Buttons missing on the dispatch card — no SimBrief username in Settings.
• Pull from SimBrief errors — make sure you clicked Generate OFP on SimBrief, not just opened the dispatch form.
• A flight says "No SB link" on the review panel — that flight has no imported OFP. Go back and pull it.
• Advance to Next Leg appears when the app has detected arrival. If the flight ended but in-blocks was never picked up, use Close Leg & Advance.
• Abandon, top right of the Roster panel, throws the whole roster away. Previous rosters move to the Inactive Rosters tab, where Reuse pre-fills a new roster from an old one — handy for a rotation you fly regularly.
